Friends President Honored with "Library Advocate Award"
November 2007 - The Southwest Florida Library Network (SWFLN) honored Claire Hauenstein, president of the Friends of South County Regional Library, with the 2007 Library Advocate Award. The award is granted annually to "a member of the community who has demonstrated exceptional support for and attention to the promotion of libraries."
SWFLN lauded the Friends of South County Regional Library's support of local and even statewide efforts by hosting workshops, supporting other Friends groups and fundraising efforts. They also noted the rapid growth and extensive work of the organization, which has only been in existance for four years.
Claire?s reaction to the award: ?I am surprised and absolutely delighted. However, this is not an award just for me but a recognition of the work of our Friends Board and the group as a whole, and I truly appreciate that.?
Claire's many years of experience in management as well as her previous volunteer work with other non-profits have been a tremendous benefit to the Friends of South County Regional Library.
